Our take

Hugging Face is today the neutral infrastructure of open models, and it is passing into the hands of the dominant AI chip supplier. The promise of openness is in writing; what matters is whether it is kept. If your AI strategy relies on open models so as not to depend on anyone, keep your own copy of critical models and data and do not assume the repository will always be neutral.
